Where Do Search Engines Get Their Results?
Here are some diagrams to show which search engines are supplied by Google and the Open Directory. 
This diagram shows Google supplies three other engines with results from its patented 'PageRank' search engine: AOL, Netscape and iwon.

Google paid 'Adwords' results are supplied to the five search engines in this diagram(as well as appearing on the right hand side of Google searches.

The Open Directory (dmoz) supplies five search engines including Google with results from its listings. This is a very important directory, but very slow to get websites listed in as all websites are reviewed by volunteers
